  • Bullion metal prices ended lower on Tuesday.  Gold prices gave way to selling pressure brought on by the U.S. dollar index pushing to a four-week high. Prices had lost more ground after the U.S. Commerce Department reported that factory orders climbed more than expected in May.

  • Crude-oil prices ended moderately higher on Tuesday at Nymex. Prices rose as Mideast tensions supported prices, but then built on their gains in electronic trading after the first release of weekly supply data.
  • Bullion metal prices ended substantially lower on Tuesday at Comex. Comex gold futures prices ended the U.S. day session lower as traders focused on the possibility the U.S. Federal Reserve will signal that it's prepared to slow the flow of monetary stimulus.

  • Rupee opened a tad lower at 54.22 against the dollar as month-end demand for the American currency from oil importers weighed on the Indian unit. It had closed at 54.20 per dollar on Wednesday.
  • Base metal prices finished lower on Wednesday. Copper prices slipped in London fell below $7,000 for the first time in almost 18 months as data from Europe to China, the biggest user, raised concern that demand is faltering.
